Highly branched cyclic dextrin (HBCD)
Steady carbs, no sugar crash, and none of the gut-slosh dextrose gives you. Its low osmolality empties from the stomach fast, then trickles glucose in. It spares your glycogen while you train, so you finish less empty and refuel quicker after.
ENDURANCE & HYDRATION SUPPORT
Sodium
We've included a strong amount of sodium to hold your hydration and blood volume through a long session. The citrate half turns into bicarbonate to buffer the burn; sip it throughout your workout and there's no deficit to claw back after.
Potassium
Sodium's teammate, potassium, sits inside your cells, sodium outside, and that gradient is what fires every nerve and muscle contraction. Keep it topped up and muscles stay firing clean, cramps stay off, and you hit recovery with your fluid balance intact.
Magnesium

Common Questions
Is the nutrition panel final?
The ingredients are final, however specific values have not yet been validated against supplier specifications or the FSANZ Nutrition Panel Calculator. Comp Fuel Base is currently in R&D / early tester stage and is not yet commercially released.
Does it contain milk or bovine collagen?
Some test batches in current circulation contain milk in the form of hydrolysed whey protein isolate, and bovine collagen as hydrolysed bovine collagen peptides.
Can I use it with a pre-workout?
Yes, but start with a half serve if your pre-workout contains strong stimulants. Stacking stimulants with a large carb and protein serve can increase nausea risk, particularly during long sessions. Build up gradually and see how you respond. Ideally Comp Fuel should give you enough energy to ditch your high-stim pre-workout ritual.
What is HBCD?
Highly branched cyclic dextrin (HBCD) is a carbohydrate made from waxy corn starch using a branching enzyme process. It has a high molecular weight and low osmolality, which is associated with faster gastric emptying compared to maltodextrin or dextrose. Cluster Dextrin is a brand name for HBCD produced by Glico. Comp Fuel Base uses HBCD of the same structural class - sourced from waxy corn starch using the same process.
What is Comp Fuel Base?
Comp Fuel Base is a multi-ingredient training and competition fuel designed for strength athletes. It's built around highly branched cyclic dextrin (HBCD) as the carbohydrate source, creatine, and mineral salts.
How do I drink it?
Sip, don't chug. Mix in cold water and sip throughout your training or competition block. Chugging a large carb and protein serve can cause gut discomfort, especially under load.
Can I sweeten it?
Yes. Comp Fuel Base is unsweetened so you can add your preferred sweetener. Allulose, stevia, sucralose, and monk fruit all work well. Avoid sugar, honey, fruit juice, soft drink, or other high-GI mixers. Sugar alcohols are fine in small amounts - large doses may cause gut discomfort.
How to Use
For test batches in current circulation, please see the label on the bag. All test batches of Comp Fuel should be mixed in 700mL cold water. Sip for the duration of your training session in place of your standard intra-training fluids.
